Just to kind of catch everyone up as to why I'm in the Czech Republic and the reason for this blog...
I have been a Christian for about 8 years now. Part of being a Christian is sharing about the Good News of what Jesus did on the cross! One way we can do that is by going on a mission trip. I had been on only one international mission trip in my life and it had been 5 years ago. I have had a heart for missions ever since that trip. I had been on many trips in the US, but I wanted to do another one internationally. I was in my third of college to get a degree in Computer Networking, but I was getting burnt out on all the classes because I knew that God had called me to full-time ministry and when God calls, we should obey immediately, but I was still in college for something that I knew I wasn't gonna use. I had 3 classes left till I graduated.
I was doing a summer internship at my church and we were doing a Bible study titled "Called and Accountable" by Henry & Richard Blackaby. I have never felt like you can get a full missions experience from just going somewhere for a week. I wanted to go somewhere where I would have to rely on God fully! So one night I was goofing around on the net and found my way to the International Mission Board website. They were starting a new program for college students called HandsOn! It was a semester mission trip to some place in the world. I have always wanted to go to Europe, so I looked at the different projects in Europe. I found one for Prague, Czech Republic. I have wanted to go there since I saw that movie with Vin Diesel called "XXX" because they filmed that movie in Prague. So, as I looked at the one for Prague, it said that they needed someone to do Media/ AV work. I have always loved these and plus there was IT work involved. God used that to show me that all that time I spent was not in vain.
So, I prayed about the decision to go for a couple of weeks and talked to trusted adults and mentors in my life. I got the same response out of everyone. GO! So, I applied for the position and got it! So, I decided that even though I only had 3 classes left before I graduate, I decided to take a year off to go. Then all I had to do was pray and raise support! The managed to raise the support through my local church. They are all like family to me and I love them and thank them for their generosity! Without them, I would not be in Prague right now! So, now that everyone is caught up to speed. We can continue where my journal and my journey picks up...
